When you’re up for a spot of adventure there’s no better way to get a taste of country life in Oaxaca than taking a guided mountain bike tour through the foothills of the gorgeous Sierra Madres.
You’ll get the chance to work off that extra plate of chips & guacamole and experience a slice of this beautiful part of the world rarely seen by visitors.
What a great opportunity to do something that’s loads of fun and not listed in any of the guidebooks!
Quality bikes and knowledgeable guides.
Your friendly, personable guides come from the UK but have over a decade of experience mountain biking along the Oaxacan coast from Puerto Escondido to Huatulco and even through the mountains up to Oaxaca City!
Their bikes are built from rugged name brand components and kept in tip-top condition. With all-terrain tires, disc brakes and finely tuned gears, these bikes are designed to go off-road.
The tour fee of just 500 MXN pesos (min. 2 participants) also includes helmet, gloves and water bottle.
What can you expect to see?
The tour takes you past peanut & sesame fields, a bird-filled lagoon, rivers, mountain ranches, villages and plenty of stunning mountain & country scenery.
Less than 20% of the route is paved and the rest is either gravel road or dirt path. You’ll get off the beaten path and then some.
How to arrange your mountain bike adventure.
When you make your reservation mention that you’d like to take advantage of this awesome opportunity and Gecko Rock will take care of all the details.
Tours do need to be booked in advance and conveniently leave right here from the resort.
Bear in mind that the standard route is moderately challenging and so you’ll need to be reasonably fit and feel comfortable on a bike to do the full 20km.
If you would like to participate but are worried that the full route might be too much, let us know and the guides will modify your itinerary accordingly.
We’ve personally taken this tour and highly recommend it. If we can do it, you can too!
Once you return to the resort, you can make a B-line for your hammock or take a refreshing dip in the pool.
